Pete ; When it was at Somerset the last time, i think it did. But I am wrong about a lot of things. I think the pickle guy is gone for good. He wount be missed. Tables are all set up . I didn't get any pictures. Just one movie of our tables with the plastic covers on them. Next to last row on the right. Last 4 tables on the right. One row away from the train layputs. About 1/2 the dealers set up today. A lot of work by the train clubs setting up their layouts.

On Saturday I met Pete the AF kid. Also another member who's name I have forgotten. Maybe Nickel Plate . I am very embraced. I should have wrote it down. It would have been worse if I hadn't mentioned it at all. He was well spoken and a nice person. I do feel bad that I have forgotten it. I hope he posts a reply and helps me out.

Hi Kenny!
* Lots of good photos there.
* The Lionel is a GS4. Body is over painted with bad paint job. Lumpy paint all over the loco. I was told it is not a running loco so for parts for now.
* Hornby is a R850/5 loco drive. Only thing missing is the red bulb for the glowing firebox. Also the tender. Except for the nice drive wheels it is put together like a triang would be. I haven't put power to it yet. loco looks like a runner.

I was hoping also to see taycotrain and the AF Kid. Nelson and I had spoken a lot. I hope he had a nice day. It was good to see him.

Hi again, Frank! Thanks for the IHB 0-8-0. That was a steal. Enjoyed the conversation a lot, too. Always nice to see a friendly face. I Talked to my IHC friends too (Ray & Joe), but Ray was a bit of a pain in the a** today, so when I left I wished him a merry Christmas, then added "GRINCH!" At least that made him laugh.

I found a very nice Erie wooden caboozle later that I got for $5. I'll have to post some pictures of it. Someone did quite a nice job of assembling it.

Greenberg show Jan 7 2012
Today's show was very pleasant. First Pete ( AF kid )came and we talked a whole lot . A nice visit ! No sooner than he left in one direction Bob ( tycotrains ) and his son came. His son is one big young man. Not as big as his Dad YET ! It Looks like he will be bigger. But Bob is a tall fellow. Very tall. They are Happy together. We talked and reminisced. It was good. After that Bob leaves and Pete returns with his latest Repaints. We looked at His NJT GP7 #7000. A loco the NJT has added to it roster and repainted it Conrail blue over a Conrail paint scheme. On the real loco the Conrail has Partially bled through. Part of the old Conrail logo has shown through. Well Pete has matched that on this new repaint of his. Very Good Pete.
* Now Pete leaves and 20 minutes later Nelson ( NickelPlate ) is here. Nelson spoke to me about the Baldwin BP20s. The larger Pennsy Shark nose diesels. the ones the size of Alco PAs, Eire builds, or EMD E units. We spoke very little on this for I had little info to add to the conversation. I introduced him also to the crew I was with Bob N, Bob L and Charlie H. It so happens the last two are both very well informed about these particular locomotives, and a very interest, long, conversation developed. Me I just listened and learned. I think Nelson enjoyed it.

* It was a good day. I'll be back tomorrow to finish the show. This photo is what I picked up today. Plus one very ugly painted Erie R1 Santa Fe type ( 2-10-2 ) which isn't in the photo for I can't share this with you. The Laughter would be more than I could take. I will leave it to Nelson, if he can, to describe it. I can't. Sorry !

* I know this looks like I was shopping in London, but it was Somerset New Jersey. Our English and Canadian members can name all of them. I can only read what is written on them. I got some real good Buss type deals on them. To list them a Evening Star 2-10-0, Duchess of Southerland, a 4-6-2 with 3 matching passenger cars and a caboose. A 2-6-2t and 0-6-2t tankers. A 5 piece gray passenger set with what has to be the ugliest f7 look alike I have ever seen. Another 3 matching passenger car set missing a truck. A GW Pullman 1st class car with tables and little lights on almost every table. A Rivarossi U25C to match and pull my Burlington passenger set. A Mantua Sinclair tank car, and what is left of a Gilbert open hopper. That is todays haul.

* today at the Greenberg train Show I purchased a Lima Rheingold passenger set. A electric locomotive and 4 passenger cars. A 5th also came with it. A second vista dome car . I will run the train set with all 5 cars. I also bought a German class 52 decapod made by Kleinbahn.

Frank. A word of warning check to pins on the valve rods??? I did not and my BR42 took a dive off my layout when a pin came out and a rod dropped down and away she went to a tile floor. I got my foot in the way and not much damage. I was lucky.

Ken ; Do you mean the Gutzold or the Kleinbahn?
The Kleinbahn seems Ok tho I'll take a look at the valve gear.
* I noticed , with the Gutzold, that the plastic valve gear isn't of the best of quality on that model. If ever I plan to use it more vigorously I will first change it to metal. It is more of a curiosity piece for me. Everybody seeing it asks about that tender. The Kleinbahn one seems to be a better made model. I would like to get a Fleischman decapod. The 42,50, and 52s they make are of very good running quality.

Frank,
My BR42 has metal valve rods. I am going to take Erich's advice and try to glue the pins in and see how that works. To change the drive wheels to new ones means I need to do a lot of work and could ruin the whole project. I got too many hours in it now to screw it up. Will post some pictures when I get it done.
