Great Train Expo Kansas City
Saturday, March 19, 2011
I'm looking forward to this Saturday. It's not the best place for getting a deal, but it's a lot of fun. My 4 month old loves to watch my trains, so I think she'll have a good time. Also, Radio Disney is providing activities for the older kids.
If I get any finds, I'll post them here.

I didn't see anything like that. In fact, the show wasn't all that great. Last year the dealers had a lot of Lionel, and a little bit of everything else. This year it was all high-end HO and N stuff. Call me old fashioned, but I can't see paying $20-40 for a piece of Athearn rolling stock that I don't even get to put together myself. I just don't bother with new HO--I'll stick to the old "junk."
What really surprised me was the lack of Lionel. Three dealers, two had a pitiful table of common items and one had a token selection of newer accessories. Not like last year with table after table of classic locos that I'd have to take out a loan to pay for.
As usual with this show, the few used HO items they had were mostly overpriced. I made one $10 purchase that I'll probably put in LOTW. Aside from that, I spent my money on Chessie knick-knacks for the kid. She had fun, so it was a good day.
Next week is the local show--always good deals there!
