Here's another whodunnit... CatfordKen sent me a link to a ton of beer and Schlitz cars, but this one was not shown. It's clearly very old, but the construction seems somewhat crude. Not sure the Mantua couplers are original to the kit. The trucks are the crudest I have ever seen so hopefully that might be a better clue. Anyone know from whence this Schlitz?

I actually saw a few Schlitz cars today, not nothing like that. Its hard to tell in the photos, but are there plastic wheels on the one side of the trucks? I was toying with a Marklin piece the other day and cursing its all metal wheelsets. Just wondering if your car might have had a european background since it had hook n loops also. Not likely being it has Schlitz labeled on it, but I'm just guessing.
I started collecting beer reefers this year. I'm up to 12 so far and almost everyday I learn of more of them that are out there.

Good reference site. Can't find it there. They do however point out the variations of the Tyco Schlitz car, somebody over there is on top of things.

I think that's the site Ken sent me. Was very impressed and plan to return. I noticed their take on the two Tyco Schlitz variants - I have notes for different shades of blue, but not red vs. brown. Maybe I just didn't notice, or maybe there are 3 variants then....?

The comparison to the one Train Miniature variant is especially interesting. The scheme is such a one-off compared to the others; was it ever used in real life?
Chris, the wheelsets are metal - brass wheels on thick steel axles to be exact - but one side is insulated in the hub.
I'm thinking it will be fun to build a Shlitz Express. I have the mystery one above, the two Tycos shown, and the Varney kit from that site. I like the variety in looking at the others.

Well since we are rolling out the cold ones...
Either a Walthers or TM I'm not 100% sure. Missing a few things (stirrups, brake wheel) but all the doors up top are there so that's good.
