was the GORRE & DAPHETID railway,something that was just a fantasy railway,developed by the late john allen,as have noticed a few kits and made up bits filtering onto ebay uk with GORRE & DAPHETID on them,ken

Hello Ken, The G&D was John Allen's fictional model railroad. MDC made quite a few G&D models to honor the famed layout,and builder.

Indeed it was, and quite a remarkable one from the late 1950's through the 1960's, until destroyed by a fire just after his death. I believe Mr Allen was a photographer by trade, and scenes from the layout were prominently featured regularly in the Model Railroad publications of the day...I happened to come across this site while internet surfing for some of the best small HO layouts ...and came up with the original Gorre and Daphetid layout constructed by john allen. Enjoy!

Ken They are tribute cars for the John Allen G&D. 4 different 50' Overtons and a pair for each of the green smaller overton combine and coach. frank
