Do you guys know of any good sources for cheap/bulk HO scale people? It doesn't matter whether or not they're painted. I've seen some ebay lots with 100 figures for a few dollars... the problem I have with those though are that some are listed as "HO scale" but aslo say "1:100 scale". I may take a shot with one that specifically says "1:87" and see what happens.

"She" started out life as a parish priest from an old Plasticville people set...
I make a putty by dissolving the sprues in plastic cement. After it hardens I carve it, adding cleavage, hair and such. After I coat it with some more cement to smooth out the carving marks, I paint them.

I prefer to use the artist's term "nude" and yes, she is, as well as the couple behind the car. She started life as a Plasticville parish priest and a brakeman, the couple are a compilation of 5 different figures.

Hopefully not...like Roman orgies...
I have two tasteful scenes in mind for them on my layout...Merten, on the other hand, puts out several sets that crosses that line.

I know those lots you are talking about, I've looked at them many times. I do like some of the street lights they also sell, along with some trees. I'm skipping on their people because, and I'm not being racist, they're all chinese. I'm modeling the US in the past, so that just wouldn't look right.

Hmmm...I know the painted ones are wearing mostly Asian oriented clothing. I always figured I could buy a set of the unpainted ones and just paint on more North American looking clothing. Meh...I guess I'll have to take a closer look.

Painting them yourself would do the trick, but that's a lot of work. I guess it depends how many you want to do. I know you mentioned that in the original post but my mind was stuck on the painted ones I guess. The painted ones, well I have to laugh, those colors are horrible.

I was planning on just buying a bunch and painting them in small batches when I felt like it. A box of 100 would last me a while
To be honest, the colours I'd pick would probably not be much better than those painted ones.
