Now that I have a few golden eagles I was wondering since I know you have a "few" of them too AND I know you have at least one with the reverse light in it..... Does the reverse light turn on only when it goes backwards?? or is it on all the time just like the front??? and if it does only go on when going backwards.... how is it wired?? Thinking about doing that to one of my engines too depending on the level of complication
later and take care!

Thats not hard to do you just have to wire in a diode, it lets electricity frow one way but not the other. They are pretty cheap and you can get them at Radio Shack.

Hi griffon_j9 - On the factory Golden Eagle with reversing headlight - it only comes on when in reverse. How it is wired - The wiring is simple for reverse lights on a Tyco pt motor - there are no diodes on the one i have. It is wired to the block on engine. You will need a test light to determine which of the contact plates gets power when you put in reverse - then solder wire lead for reverse light to that plate. use screw on rear truck for ground wire to attach. Tyco never used diodes to my knowledge - no complication

Did the Eagle then use LEDs instead of bulbs? <LEDs ARE diodes > Because I don't care which side (of the bulb) gets power, if you have a simple filament bulb, the electricity will light it no matter which way the current flows, for forward or reverse. You either have to have a physical path that's different each way (with the other path broken when in use), or a special bulb. There's no way a simple filament bulb will NOT work with reversed voltage. So would you please explain then what type of bulb is in these units? I'm sure you can have a reverse light which is LIT all the time , but unless it's wired special, I can't see it switching lights at either end with simple wiring trick. Show me the circuit!
