I like to pick up train mags at Christmas since I have some quiet time to read and the articles have a nostalgic Christmas feel . The Jan issue of Classic Toy Trains has a nice article on digital photograhphy and trains.
One thing I found was to use the largest file your camera has to save pics. Save pics as a TIff on your desktop and some info about lighting for the best color reproduction.
Might be worth a look.
