Well, my first layout. I have to go small and mobile, so it's a 4'x6'. It's made to slide up under the bed. Two ovals, so I can run two locos, if I want. Also some switching yards for storage and switching up trains.
It's a 1x4" frame with OSB base and 1" of foam for making some relief, later.
Tell me what you think of the design. I need a couple more left hand turnouts.

Looking pretty good! Looks like a lot of switching possibilities there. Gonna be mostly urban, or some country scenes?

Small is cool!!!

I wish I had enough room for a layout the size of yours, but I don't. So I went reeeaaallly small...

Good luck and KEEP THE PICS COMING!!!

Looking good.

Room for town/industry. Plenty of room to park rolling stock and keep running on the main lines. I like it. My current layout is the highly complex 36" circle. Hmmm...

What new tricks are you going to try? Every new layout is an adventure. One day, I hope to tackle >gulp< hand-laid track. It looks incredible, but I haven't worked up the nerve, yet!

Good work, and keep those pictures coming!

That's a great start. I'm a big fan of running multiple trains in small spaces, and you can do that on the two loops. The only problem is that I bet you outgrow that layout quicker than you expect.

Interesting track plan, and looks like a fun start. A little more involved than my own first layout which was also a 4x6. I do have two observations/suggestions to offer:

1) Some of the sidings are pretty short... so short in fact so as to be useless. You'll be surprised how easy it is to foul a feed track with just one car when they're that short (unless your era is full of short stuff, ha ha). Also... remember to leave ample space for building feet (foundations) to give those spurs a reason for being. Again, space disappears in a hurry.

2) I would consider flipping one pair of crossover turnouts so that trains can move from the inner to the outer loop and back again. The way you have them now, once a train transfers from one to the other it will be stuck there unless it reverses direction and backs out.

Anyway... looks like a good start so far. You can always experiment before affixing the track permanently. Have fun with it!
