This is not a caboose, so says the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. Walthers Trainline call it a caboose but they forgot to put glass in this waycar's windows so what would they know. I am as underwhelmed by this non-caboose as the dude with the black cadillac.

This AHM one does have glass, put there with a product put out by Champ many years ago, a liquid you kinda bubbled in and allowed to dry...

Picked up this green guy down at the bazaar last week, along with a Reading boxcar. This caboose looks mint, although the box has faded due to sunlight. Don't run across the Cox brand often. Adds to my Burlington collection as well. :)

Here's a new discovery:

It's a legit Tyco, but unlike any others. The graphics are printed on some sort of thick yet indestructible film applied to the car. I know these are Tyco graphics because the data has the same errors as the production center flows, and matches the Alcan one as well. Only change is a date: 4-81.
Pfizer's headquarters were in Tyco's Joisey backyard. Consider that along with the very clean hole drilled and tapped on the bottom, right through the metal weight, and this was likely a rare award / display promo for the stated Pfizer division (car would have been mounted to a piece of track).

More great stuff! I love tayco's candy car. I'll have to find a bobber caboose to go with last week's loco.
AMC--if you like BN, you'd love my fleet. I've got so much green they made fun of me when I first started posting here.
Looks like a good week to show this wood kit that I picked up in an auction lot over the summer:

It's unassembled, I just stuck some of the pieces together to see what it would look like. What can anyone tell me about this? When were these made, what's up with the "old huff and puff" on the label? You can see the original price tag from my sadly missed nearest hobby shop "House of Wheels and Toys". Seems expensive for something that I assume is older.

Sounds kinda freaky, shay. I think I'll learn to live with a breezy waycar and let the train crew grumble! Catfordken's Japanese bobber is a doozy and by the look of AMC's BN caboose, I guess Walthers bought out Cox? Very similar.
Hi sj76, your Pfizer's a pretty neat hopper. Is that its original colour or just a bit of old age?

I still have plenty of clear and hazy mylar sheets left from my work cleanout scavenging for use in making windows. I mailed a big legal-sized USPS box full of this stuff to a Forum member for the cost of postage ( about $10 , weighed about 3 lbs ! ). No need to keep your cars breezy if you don't want to.

Thanks for the offer, Jerry, but it's not so economical just for one caboose. However, you have given me a great idea. I'll cut up some bits of the plastic that fancy shirts are packaged with, should be perfect I reckon. Added to my to do list.

Silver Streak kits were on the market from the 1950s to when they went out of production (don't know the date but I believe Walthers may have bought the company.) Ye Olde Huff N Puff is the company that now owns and manufactures the Silver Streak line.
I loved their kits - I had several cabooses and about a dozen box cars and reefers. They are dated by today's standards but they went together easily and made a fairly detailed model. You might want to check out the Olde Huff N Puff website.

This isn't a caboose, but it does go at the end of a train Here's one of the IHC streamliners I picked up on Saturday. It's a CN "Bedford" observation car.

Alas, they do not. It probably wouldn't be hard to do though. A lighting kit and some tinfoil would probably work

That's a sharp streamliner, Cheez. I don't know about anyone else, but these are one thing I've actually noticed the price coming DOWN on. I've seen a lot of good deals lately on passenger cars.

It's really nice to see. I picked up a pair of those new in box for $10 each! What a difference from those $50 cars Walthers is putting out. The IHC cars are excellent for the price. It's a shame they discontinued the interior kits
