What I believe you have there is one that has been modified. Either someone has painted the piece black or have changed the piece with one from another hopper.... I don't think Tyco ever used any black ones on their Maxwell House hoppers....

You're welcome, Mike
I had two Tyco Covered hoppers in the mid 70s, the Maxwell was one and the Old Dutch. I have always thought the Maxwell hopper was Tyco's best !
I now have atleast one of all of Tyco's covered hoppers...

None of the Tyco Centerflow hoppers had black running boards. If yours is black molded plastic, it may in fact be unique.
Numerous Kader (AHM/Bachmann) - and probably Athearn - centerflows had black running boards, but I don't think these will swap securely with Tyco's. They may "fit" but not "snap" in place. Been a while since I tried this, but I know Tyco's tooling is very different, and the boards themselves are actually just a tad longer on the Tyco car.
