This set (T6205A "THE SHIFTER"-EAST) was given to a kid brand new who had no interest in trains and it laid on a shelf for many years next to a poorly firing oil burner....

Despite that.....the contents are still in mint condition.

taycotrains, how do you resist not running these magnificent old sets? The temptation would be more than I could bear!
My SOTW is slightly more modern:
The Columbian is a Digital Bachmann Baltimore and Ohio birthday present from my girlfriend. If she really loved me, it would have been brass! Now I'm not positive the B & O used their FT's for passenger service often but never mind that. What's more important is this set will forever be my very most favourite train ever, even if it isn't. Domestic bliss reigns supreme in Plasticville!

Very simple....I don't run them because it aggravates people like James May. :-)
Why run something that is almost 50 years old...pristine and pretty much untouched when you/I have better running trains (like your Bachmann DCC B&O AB units pictured above) and cost about 1/4 the price of that Tyco set ?

And the best thing is Microbusss, because its a snap together kit, I can pull it apart for storage until I have a layout to put it on!

Nah, I didn't mean for everyday use. What I'm curious about is if all your old locos are kept in running condition. Won't they seize up if they don't get used now and then? I guess it doesn't matter when they're for display only.

Tayco, That is a nice find you have there. A quick question,a friend gave me a Mantua/Tyco 0-4-0 swicher like yours but it is lettered for the Delaware & Hudson. Do you know when this loco was made?
