Last weeks SOTW was what I called my second favorite out of my collection. This weeks is by far my favorite and most prized !
TYCO Blue And Grey Centennial Set (pre production sample)
This set box is really battered but I kept it to show this....
There is no information of what set it is....Blue or Grey ??? and no set number.
Inside the box we see nothing at first glance out of the ordinary....
But in the photo under the loco where you see the two black dots ....that is were the "TYCO" logo is located on all production sets.
Next if you look at the locomotive you see there is no drive shaft or umbilical wire...you cant see it in the picture but there is no motor in the tender.
When you flip the box insert card over that is when you see what makes this set "unique" There is no graphics on the other side of the cars.

I'm glad you put the Centennial set up this week, taycotrains. It's real dandy! Is leaving one side blank standard for pre-production models of that era or was it just a Tyco quirk?
I love the livery of your ultra modern set, catfordken. Plus, I have a question about OO scale. How much extra clearance is needed for things like station platforms should I ever have the good fortune to own some British model trains?
