I bought a set of 3 Amtrak passenger cars and a GG1, all in the same lot some years ago, and wanted to dit it out. I'd forgotten what condition it was in, so tonight, with the wife gone, I tore apart the stacks of boxes to get to my train stuff near the floor. Finally retrieved the storage box it was in. Got all 4 pieces out,and after looking the GG1 over carefully, I realized it was all there, just needed the wires soldered back to the trucks. I thought it was broken or missing pieces, but as I've been working on more and more engines lately ( and Tycos ), I'm recognizing what should be there and what shouldn't. The body is near perfect, I don't see any breaks or chips in it. So I took them all out of the paper wrappings and put them into my ClearBags Crystal plastic tube containers, and then back in the storage box until I can work on it this weekend. I also found another Tyco Amtrak passenger set in the basement a few weeks ago, cleaning up, I'd forgotten I'd bought those, and since I recently bought two Tyco Observation cars on Ebay, I now have more cars than I thought. :) Ah, well, I can make a longer train with them. I'm bidding on an FB unit, Burlington, by Bachmann, with a DCC decoder in it, to power two Observation cars for my Silver Sausage passenger consist. Missed the one tonight, got outbid at 22.05, hope I can get this guy's last unit tomorrow, seen them sell for $45 plus shipping from others, but his history people were getting them at $17-21 . Hope my luck is as good! Anyway, I'll post pics later. Time for bed!

Blue stripe or tri-colour passenger cars, AMC_Gremlin_GT? The Silver Sausage railcar sounds a real riot! Good luck in your FB ebay quest.

3 colors, actually! ! I have a Blue Amtrak, the red/blue, and a red stripe Santa Fe. I'm thinking of doing the B unit with a white strip, so I'll have a red, white, and blue striped consist.

The Ebay bid war was successful, I bid $10 over my max bid in the last few minutes, and got a snipe attempt at $5, but I still won at $23. :) Can't complain about that price any for a new unit with DCC inside.

Finally took some pics of the GG1. I'll have to get it assembled, since it's in such nice shape.

I don't think anything's broke, just needs rewiring. I'll try to get to it this weekend.

Alas, I do well remember mocking those when they came out...I just had to get one when it was offered.

That shell looks pretty sharp. The Broadway Limited's one of my favourite sets even though it's powered by the lovechild of a GG-1 and a C630! Tyco gets points for at least attempting an affordable GG-1 and for making their competitor's rosters look decidedly dull.
