I found a really neat and useful FREE tool on the web. It's called Ultimate Racer. You can learn much more about it at their website.

I like the track design feature. They have 20+ different track manufacturers from HO Scale to 1:32th. It will even print an inventory of the pieces you use in your design.
Here's an example that I threw together. I took off the track tags (piece id's) because it makes the picture much less cluttered.
