From New England to Ye Olde England, a local goods train passes the Edinburgh Express adjacent to the ancient Castle Bamburgh, an early site of old world commerce and cultural exchange.

AWESOME shots Wks and Chops!!
TF Railroader News March 26th, 2018

A new comer on the Ephrata Valley Railroad, the crew aboard Santa Fe U36B "U-Boat" #350 were honored to have a photo snapped, as the locomotive descended through the autumn trees, with a load of mixed freight.
By the way, notice the updated scenery?

RP, this is one of the best Tyco photos I have ever seen. Could you send me a copy to my email address? I'd like to try to turn it into a print. One day, I'd like to do a Tyco calendar. Guess what would go for October?
Here is a photo that would NOT make it to a Tyco calendar, but man, I sure do enjoy seeing this consist as it pulls into Castle Bamburgh:

Nice British wreck crane and maintenance car, Chops!!
TF Railroader News April 4th, 2018
An awesome shot was taken of Santa Fe FTA #400 as it stopped briefly within the autumn trees, as a flat car towards the rear of the haul, was being examined by employees of the Schuylkill Valley Station.
Our railfan walked a bit further down the tracks, and upon hearing a distinctive locomotive humming noise coming-from Norriton Bridge, he turned around and just barely managed to capture a shot of oncoming Santa Fe U36B #350.

Generally, by nature, digital cameras lose sharpness in low light. If you want a picture sharp on the pixel level, you just want to have lots of light. If you don't want parts burned out and parts dark, you also need a fairly even light.
Either there was sufficient light on the scene or the camera has a good quality sensor that stays sharp into fairly dim light.

Thanks scsshaggy- that very well might be my error. I tend to photograph in a fairly dim florescent light. Would an incandescent bulb in a shop type reflector give a better image? I've had issues with glare-out when I've shown a light too directly on a subject, also.

In the basement where the Ephrata Valley Railroad is located, all lightbulbs are "Daylight" florescent. This makes the image bright. Plus, all light bulbs are attached to the ceiling.

I wonder what would happen if you held the shop type reflector back a bit and shined the light a little off center so the hottest part of the light is not on the subject, but the subject is still in the light from the reflector.

Last night I got a 500 W halogen shop light at Walmart for $10. Can't wait to try it for the coming OTW's.
Walt, the street light collector, has also offered to beam me the light that come's off his layout off a NASA reflective disc orbiting the Earth, as well. I have to do this quick, as NASA is contracting to use light from his layout to power the solar panels of the next Mars expedition.

What a difference, sscshaggy! This is without back light.
This is with a 500W shop light.
When I first started taking digital photos, about three years ago, I was astonished that it could take photos in such dim light. One could never get away with a dimly lit shot with silver nitrate film, unless a large aperature and slow shutter speed was employed- even then... So much so did I start taking that aspect of digital photography for granted that I discounted the effect of a strong direct light in improving pixel. Well, welcome back to the 21st century.
A P&L box car is shoved along by an ATSF 0-6-0 that was leased out to the Euphrates Valley Railroad excursion service for a time.
This is a little video of the P&L RR.

That shop light really brightens it up. You not only have the subject bright and sharp, but the rest of the scene, too.
In the P&L video, there's that subtitle where you say you thought you'd have to get out and push. It reminded me of a time when I did just that. The Lake Linden and Torch Lake RR has a 16 ton porter 0-4-0 (3-foot gauge). At the end of the day, we were using up the boiler pressure before putting it away. Heading uphill toward the engine house with about 15 psi left, the engine was just barely not making it, so just to see if it'd work, I hopped down and pushed. Somewhat to my surprise, it was just enough to get us up the hill.

Wow, that's crazy! I used to have a 1979 Dodge Mirada. Delightful car, only problem is that it wouldn't run half the time. Spent quite some time shoving that thing down the road.
Interesting little thing about that P&L set. I got it complete, then discovered this companion box car in a curio shop, no doubt from the same modeler who did the P&L excursion train.

An L&N Alco shuffles past, towing its caboose, west of Graceland.
It's starting to pile up at Gold Mountain-
Shiny Fords (Fix Or Repair Daily) gleam in the show room spelling the end for the trusty trolley...
Night falls on Toys and Hobbies, the video game revolution looms...
And a PC box car blocks the way.
NH F's in ABA formation, Snowbird scheme, caught in the photgraphers flash.
The ground shakes as three synchronized two cycle diesels pound out a steady roar.
A former PC former PRR F unit trundles into a new prosperity:

And an EL wears her old paint, but still looks new:
An antique excursion train pulls into Felinite Station in El Paso:
And across the icy gray Atlantic, a British branch line train delivers its weary cargo in time for tea:
