The topic about walthers locos reminded me that I have one... so I figured it was time to mock another railfanning shot:

That's my "superdetailed" GP15-T. I added hoses, grabs, lift rings, shades, wipers; Chessie-spec horns, bell and rock pilot; a few other bits here and there, numerous paint touch-ups (recoated all the blue and painted the walkways, steps, and turbo hatch) and a light coat of weathering. The paint still looks satiny but I actually intend for this to be one of the newer units in my roster, so that's OK.
As for the load of new Beetles spied with a late-80's Ford 150 in the foreground: Shhhh! They don't call this particular train the Contrabandolero for nothing! [:D]

| Nice detailing!! Were the MU cables colorcoded on all Chessie locos? I never noticed that in any photos before. I will need to pay more attention. Where did those VWs come from? Aren't they still in production in South America someplace?

Hey! That actually looks like the AtlasO one!!![:D] Nice job on that GP-15T, one of these days I will get around to doing that to mine! Did yours have the nose Chessie Cat on it? Mine don't, and again one of these days, I have to rectify that. Some Chessie's had color coded fittings on the MU connectors, it depended a lot on where the locomotive was assigned for maintenence. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Huntington did this, and Cumberland didn't.

Mine came with the Ches-C on the nose. You should be able to use the nose Ches-C decal from any EMD power set. The logo on the carbody is a uique size; the smallest ever applied to a Chessie EMD because the loco is so small!
I've seen pics of the GM50 unit with color-coded, and later uncolored, MU hoses. So you can probably make the case for any version to suit your preference; I thought the colors were a nice touch. You can check the Chessie Photo Archives site run by Dean Heacock for more info: http://www.trainweb.org/chessiephotos/

My Walthers Chessie GP15 had a naked nose too. Was surprised they missed the logo on the nose, but I guess some DID have the Chessie cat on the nose?

According the the article in Diesel Era, all of them came from EMD with the full Chessie paint, including the nose kitty.
A point of useless trivia, from the same source, the GP-15T was the last EMD to be delivered with the famous "rock pilot" that was a Chessie trademark. The later SD-50s were delivered with a standard EMD style snowplow.
I had a leftover nose kitty from a Microscale set, that I used, after painting the inside of the nose. Seems that mine looked like it was at Three-Mile-Island the way that nose glowed!
GM50 seemed to favor the Cumberland shops in it's golden years (pun intended) that may explain the color coded fittings.
I remember seeing it at a coal tipple near Stoystown Pa. in the mid 70s. Now, THAT was a strange sight, run down tipple, and this gold locomotive pulling the hoppers thru!
And me with out a camera (heck, I was only 13 at the time!!![:D]
