this is another of those cross breeds,bit of both,mixed up and produced,ie no real prototype that i can find,started life as a continental loco produced by triang,hornby took over the triang business,modified it,and for 1 year in 1976,released this,should be a brass bell just in front of cab,ken

i have mate just wonder why they put a nice motor in such a light body,anything longer than 4 small wagons and it does a wheelie,motor is probably from a scalectrix car ken

I'd strip it down and give it a thorough cleaning, if you haven't already. The chassis looks pretty dirty.

PGW locos at Frankford station. The Bayonne Branch of the PGW. The Locomotive "Britiannia" stops with the Limited, while the "Evening Star" hauls a freight past the station.
On the Frankford roundhouse display track behind the main railroad office complex the "Lord of the Isles" and "Spencer" sit on display.

* Come on Nelson you know what that is. It is my Evening Star 2-10-0 with the wrong tender. The old Hornby runs really good and the colors are far from drab black. In my make beleave world, along with Catfordken the great Western in the UK and the Pennsy here have been transfering motive power between two branches of each of there railroads. The Catford branch in London, and Pennsylvanias north east branch of Frankford. With the exchange come the chance to test each others equipment with the goal of inproving motive power.

Both you're layout and locos are great. I collect Hornby,triang,wrenn and others. Do you ever have trouble getting threm to run threw switches? My small layout uses Atlas code 100 track and I completly elminated the switches from my outer loop to be able to run these great trains.

I have a Wrenn 4-6-0 and it didn't like switches either. I checked it with my NMRA gague and found the flanges to be to wide. I pressed them a little closer and it runs well now.

* I haven't been here, in this post for awile. I recieved a few triang doublender dummies from Ken. These are models of locomotives made for the english market by General motors. Why they weren't released in this country I dont know. For use of these with passenger trains is the way to go. Their is no need for a turntable ride or a trip through a why.
* Just looking at them and how the truck suports snap into the body gives me a idea on powering one. A tyco C-430's and GP-20 drive looks like it will just snap in . Because EMD made this locomotive the GP-20 should be used. Bloomburg trucks would be correct. Yes and it does. The clearance on the center fuel tank is a question. It seems to touch the track, but not obstruct motion of the locomotive. Ahhhh. Maybe I have a project.

I think the reason the double cab GM loco wasn't made for US is cause all the model train companies were pushing the single cab Es Bet if you looked in Australia you'd find a bunch
I does like your collection of UK locos BUT do any of them exist NOW?? In museums tourists railways or presevation societies?

Now I have put together 2 MU2 drives with proper hanging clips. I took apart and rebuilt the 2 drives. You can see how they fit in the doublender body. The original blomburg trucks the loco came with had no brake detail and looked different. These Tyco drives fit good and look good. I need to make some pilots for two ends.

Ken Sat is a trainshow and I'll look for pilots for it there. The running will be done tomorrow after is is wired. Gas tank has to be made smaller. Like that old saying. "It is starting to come together"

Well the body has been stripped of paint. It seems the the blue was the color of the plastic. I have found out the prototype was a Austrialian,Vistoria Railways, B Class diesel. A 1500HP unit mounted on a pair of EMD C trucks. The model uses B trucks. Built at the time of FT and F3 EMD diesels.
Here is the body now.

Here is how it looks before painting. I changed my mind and mounted the pilots to the body I will put in coupler pockets. It is shorter than a SD45. Fixed coupler pockets should work fine.
* Can you see what drive is being used to give a better look ?

Hey Buss ; Now, for last around 25 years any british OO ran on HO track. It was a little bigger in scale, as OO is half O, O is 1/45, HO is 1/87, OO must be twice O or 1/90. That cant be right. That would make OO smaller than HO, and it is bigger. I dont know Buss. Well have Ken ( catfordken ) explain it. He knows. I guess it is 1/72 whch has some reference in Millameters.

hi ben the main difference is the height and length,british is 1/76th and ho is 1/87th,the width of oo is reduced to enable it to run on ho track,below is the scales,ken
OO is 4mm to the foot and HO is (half O) 3.5mm to the foot

Well the body is dark green now. It has a good side and a bad side. All photos are of the good side. the bad side came with a clump of old glue on it . I cut it off with with a exato blade but the glue had damaged the plastic underneath. So the bad side continues. I will decall it as it is. If it comes out good, I will go back and make the repair for new paint does match new paint. If it comes out bad, so what. I'll live with it.

Here is another Canadian, Pacific loco made by triang, or Triang Hornby. It came to me thro Catfordken. It is a good running loco with good detail. It is a little light on pulling power. The train assigned to it are shorter and lighter. Not as much power as a Tyco pacific.

Has not come yet as it is coming to Pennsylvania from Canada and might be another week. Not really sure what is in there either and I do not know a thing about Hornby..or the like...
