Hi All,

I have a TYCO PT that runs fine most of the time however will intermittantly start to squeal and slow down. When this happens, the light brightens as the engine slows almost as if something were slipping causing the engine to spin faster as the train slows. What can be causing this and how can it be remedied? THanks

Sounds like it needs some oil at the brushes. I remember my 70s layout and my engines doing that. Oiling is an easy fix...
But I also remeber times when the gears or driveline parts would get offset a little & slip.

With the lights brightening I would say the gears are slipping.

oil it, use very little oil & put a very very small drop on the shaft between the brushes & a small drop behind the pinion gear. use a toothpick & let the oil drop from it. dip the toothpick in oil & what come up with it is pleanty enough oil.
