Greetings to all! Found this forum after my grandson (5 yrs) found an old Tyco train set from about 1973 or so down in the basement and just went crazy over it. He has HO Thomas, Percy, Gordon and James sets at his house. To make a long story short, the Tyco Shifter won't run, so I am going to school via Google searches to try and get it runninng for him.
I model the Interstate Railroad in the 55-62 timeframe in N scale, which is also a hit with the boy. I dabble a little in O scale Lionel with my 1949 Lionnel 671 loco that I got for Christmas that year.
We also have a Christmas Express G scale train that is put out around the Christmas tree every holiday season.
I'm retired so have time to spend on the hobby, and now with an assistant, we enjoy every minute!
I'm looking forward to contribute anything I can to the group and hope to learn a little myself.

Welcome aboard, Jim! You're becoming a true rubber-scaler, although I think you need a little S to round out your collection.

Hello Jim ! * Welcome to this site. Tyco shifters are made to run. not sit in boxes in basement. They just want to be kept clean and lubed. Also not have people squeeze their running gear. also never run it dry. Remove the body and turn the motor armature with your finger first to make sure it is not seized before applying power. A dry seized motor will burn up. If you still got problems get back to us. frank
