I saw those too Ken and wondered about them. My guess is they are custom paints, but I don't know Mantua F-7s that well, so I suppose they may be Mantua-made.
Again, I would guess custom painted if I was a contestant on a game show that dealt with ready-to-run HO-scale trains...and Regis would say..."Custom Painted Mantua's????...Is That Your Final Answer?!?"[:O]

Again, I don't know my Mantua releases well enough and don't have a complete set of Mantua 1978-2001 catalogs. Now that you show me the end flap, I might change my answer to legit-Mantua F-7's. I'll look through what Mantua catalogs I have and see if I can peg a year for them. The boxes look like late '70s to early '80s Mantua.

| Those look like FM C-liners to me... and the rear truck looks longer than the front. Are those some of the rare/goofy 5-axle units? Don't know much about C-Liners myself.

Hi Guys, the LIRR had FA's, of which they just retired the last one in 2005 (I live on Long Island). It is now in a train museum in Danbury, CT. I also have 3 sets of these, yes genuine Mantua.

Hi Guys. The Long Island Railroad had 5 F units used as Power cabs on their Push - Pull service That started in the 1970's. #619 was a F9Am, #620,621,622,623 were F7Am. These engines along with FA Cab Units had there prime movers removed & converted to power Cab Units. They were used only as a MU Cab control and supplied power for the AC, Heating & Lighting for the passenger cars. The pusher Engine usually was a GP38-2 or C420. The reason for the cab unit was that the train could go to the end of the line and was able to go back without having to turn the train around. All the the engineer had to do was walk from one end to the other. He could control the GP38-2 pusher engine from the Cab unit on the other end. This saved time, especially during rush hour commuting.
Mantua's engine #620 is correct (the color is a little off) But the #750 B unit and The #608 A unit are not correct. The #608 is a "FA" Class Cab Unit not a F7A. And the LIRR did not use B units. The units are painted correctly for the time period. If you model The LIRR you would have to change the number on the #608 A unit to one of the numbers above. Pictures of these LIRR engines and others can be found in a Book Named: "LIRR Diesels of the Sunrise Trail" By John J. Scala. The book was printed in 1984. Carl

Maybe somebody else can add more specific info on them, but here's what I know about Bev Bel....
They offer special runs of locos and cars decorated in schemes that are not normally produced. For example, I've seen Bev Bel Southern Pacific "Black Widow" Life-Like F-7A's. In my collection, I have some rolling stock that is Athearn, but the box end flap has a Bev Bel sticker and the car is in roadname not in Athearn's catalog. Besides HO-scale, I've also seen N-scale Bev Bel products.
This set was found on the BLW-Brooklyn Locomotive Works site. I'm not familiar with them, but from what I see they sell N-scale items and have some Bev-Bel.
One thing about Bev-Bel that inhibits collecting it, from my point of view, is that they don't produce product catalogs....thus making determining what was made somewhat difficult.
