Looks like MRC has gotten serious on dumping the remaining Platinum Series F-7A and F-7B models. I see $19.99 for non-DCC examples and how 'bout $22 for a DCC-equipped F-unit!!!

Free shipping on orders over $100 or $120. I already ordered a half-dozen of 'em!!! How can you beat a decoder equipped F-unit for $22?!!

Hell YEAH!
Thanks for the heads-up Tony C!

We will CERTAINLY see a sudden influx of MRC F7A's & B's on eBay next month, with starting bids of $39.99 or $45.99...mark my words! Some re-seller with DEEP pockets will snatch it ALL up, and spend the next 6 months making his/her money back 2 1/2 times over. Wished I could swing that...but I am elbow-deep in some other adventures right now.

However...

I just picked up both road # SP F-7's, both road # SP B Units, and 1 each F7A undecked w/1 light and F7A w/2 lights, and the undecked B Unit for each of those! I thought $19 was steep for a B Unit until I realized IT WAS ALSO POWERED IDENTICAL TO THE A UNIT. YOWZA.

"45 car trains, here I come!"

Not sure which decoder I will go with for the motive power on the upcoming layout...so I opted for good-ole DC. I have Proto 2K, Kato, Atlas, and a few Athearns in L&N, SCL, Family Lines, IC, ICG, Midsouth, Mississippi Export Railway, Alabama State Docks, GM&O, KCS, Southern and Southern Pacific.

Thanks Again, Tony! [:D]

I got my order yesterday. Picked up an undec decoder equipped F-7A; Amtrak F-7A and F-7B; and Santa Fe F-7B.

They were out of Santa Fe F-7As and I missed the decoder equipeed Southern Pacific F-7A. No back orders obviously on this items as they're being discontinued.

Placed the order Monday the 11th and received it via UPS yesterday the 20th. I ordered enough to meet the free shipping, but even with two not being in stock...MRC was still kind enough to give me FREE UPS.

So that was 3-$79.98 F-7As, plus one DCC F-7A originally at $105...$345 retail
...ALL for $79!!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS, HUH??

I got mine the same day...2 SP A's, 2 SP B's powered, 1 light A undecked, 1 2 light A undecked, and 2 undecked B's, both powered...$153.00. Helluva Deal.

I'm going to watch and see what they have left after Dec. 26th.

I just might add more passenger trains to the mainline.

"Honey...WHY are you buying $$$ worth of passenger cars?"

"Cuz I have 10 F7A's and B's, darling."

"Oh. Whatever that meant. They are shiny and colorful."

"Yes, dear. They are."

If you snoozed...you loozed! Noticed the MRC site now lists the Platinum Series F-7As and NO LONGER AVAILABLE.

I did manage to put together a nice collection of them...

F-7A's
Rock Island
Union Pacific
Southern Pacific
Amtrak
Undec

F-7B's
Santa Fe
Amtrak

How well do these things run. I don't have any MRC equipment.
Wouldn't mind a couple of PRR A Units and a UP ABA Set although it's likely I'd have to buy an Undec "B".

Cheers,
Gareth

I saw that MRC had taken down the listing of the Platinum Series F-7's but now I see it's back up today...must have found more of 'em?

Anyway, at $20 each I'm very happy with the ones I picked up. They are nice runners. I'd compare them to a Bachmann Spectrum diesel for performance. Get 'em while you can.
