Awesome handrails and models!! Have they been touched up or cloned? Maybe the Alco C430? :)

The Delaware one looks really good with the yellow handrails. I like how they stand out against the gray paint. The other engines look good too.

Those are beautiful. I've only recently discovered how much difference painted handrails make. Hardest part is matching the colors.
I love the D&H. As I've mentioned elsewhere, my very first loco was a D&H, so I've got a soft spot for them.

Alco Fan,
Thanks, and you guessed it: the 430 is a total repaint. It was originally a SOO, but the white paint was grimy beyond cleaning. Minimal touch-up on the D&H, and what I would call "overcoat" on the ICG. The orange/white boundary on the long hood was very rough, and on the back of the cab it was way out of register. It had several factory orange touch-ups, and someone had dragged something through the wet paint (again at the factory), which exposed streaks of bare plastic below. I'd say they really hadn't worked out the painting process for these early 630's. I filled and sanded any defects, masked the "ILLINOIS CENTRAL GULF" lettering, and re-sprayed both colors. That way I didn't have to worry about matching colors for the handrails.
That locomotive kind of surprised me. I spent months on the cosmetic improvements and a mechanical overhaul that included replacing split gears in the gearbox, cleaning up the sprue and flash on the universal joints, new tires, etc. It's pretty smooth, but not as good as most of my power torque locos. Right out of the box it was not very impressive. Perhaps Tyco was somewhat justified in billing the PT as an improvement.

I think that one is my favorite too. I was just going to make them gray, but I'm glad I added the extra color.
Thanks!

Yes, I agree. I think some colors just can't be completely matched with paints that are commonly available today. The D&H yellow was really tough, because the paint I mixed was a good match under natural or incandescent light, but under fluorescent light it appeared too washed out. I never could get it right for all conditions, so finally I gave up on the fluorescent appearance.
Thanks,
Brian
