While I don't agree with MicrobusSS that the Transformers sets are worth "BIG BUCKS", they are unusual to start with and don't often show up in mint condition. They were toys when new so they kinda got "used up". Besides, MicrobusSS wants to buy everything he sees.

If you want to sell them, start them off on Ebay with no reserve and a 99 cent starting bid. Let the market determine the value; besides, this close to Christmas, you may realize more $$ from their sale than you would at another time of year.

If you want to sell them as-is, ask a straight $125 per set or-best-offer and take the best offer. You may get e-mails from people saying "Your price is ridiculously high; I'll give you $40" or e-mails saying "Your price is ridiculously low, I'll take 'em both!"

EDIT : They've gone for that much? Adjusted my post accordingly!

I have no doubt that these sets can get those kind of prices. In addition to trains, I collect 80's era toys and action figures. I don't have a lot of Transformers because, frankly, they're too expensive. There are a lot of TF collectors, and interest hasn't slipped any lately thanks to the movies. Good luck!

I think the key word in this discussion is they *can* get high prices, not *will* get high prices.

Another member here bought a pristine, unused MIB set with the sticker sheet for about $50 IIRC... and that was after a week of bidding. I got mine loose without accessories but all stickers and cars intact for $20. I later passed on two more sets that bid-sold in the (admittedly reasonable) $50 range because IMHO the set has too many odd quirks for my taste, and I don't need the "little blue robot men". I am sure I'll someday want/need one for my collection, but it can wait for now.

That said, I have also seen them in the $100-200 range. But I never bothered to check to see if they actually sold for that. I'd see them listed for such, say "crack pipe!" to myself, and move on.

Search completed items for a couple weeks and get an idea. If the final bid prices seem reasonable to you, go for it.

Don't feel bad.
I want to buy everything I see but I have a very tight MR budget. That's why I build everything.

Heh, me too... but I'm guilty of treating the HO Yard Sale on Yahoo Groups like my personal toy store.

I mean, I don't really need that undec Atlas H15-44 or that Southern high-nose SD35, now, do I?

If your refering to the set I found GIC you did recall correctly. It was a little under $50 including shipping.

I'd say $50-$150 range depending on how many pictures you take of them. The more pics the more they can go for.

Then again if you don't want them, (or one) put them up here for TRADE and you're liable to get some stuff you may really want that you might not be able to afford otherwise.

When I get back from visiting relatives I have a partial used set that I am putting up for trade. (It should have arrived in the mail by then) I don't want it but I know it's a GREAT trade item.
