I had a fun week on the 'Bay. On close inspection, the Brach's and Spreckels are both flawless, including their original red boxes. I also grabbed the CB&Q and B&M hoppers and the TYCO caboose a few days earlier. They need some TLC. The Bobber has complete hook and loop couplers and I want to keep it original, if possible. I'll need a "hybrid" car to pull it around.

Absolutely jealous because I'm looking for both the Spreckels and Brach's cars and I'm on a buying moratorium! Well, at least my wife says I am....

I want a candy consist - picking up a couple of Hershey's from someone on this forum tomorrow - got a DOTS car in an eBay lot the other day - and the Brach's is a great one I want eventually.

Oh so jealous....

No one seemed to realize what they were. I doubt anyone from the forum saw them in the "box lot" I picked up. I waited for a HUGE bid to blow me out of the water - and it never came. The 'Bay is sure unpredictable...

SOMEone might have realized what they were. ;-)

That is the thing with eBay. A complete Disneyland train in the box sold for $175 recently, which appears to be a fantastic deal.

There's an auction up right now with two different types of Spreckels cars, open and closed, with working hoppers, (likely red box) there's several Hires Rootbeer cars, there's a Brach's Candy factory that I will likely NEVER own at THAT price, and on and on.

You can find some STEALS. I've gotten three different TYCO BN boxcars by ignoring their price when bidding on box lots, figuring at the worst they're a free repaint for billboard cars. You can OFTEN pay $2 a car and under including shipping if you're just patient and cheap!

Congrats on the lots - I'll still be way jealous for a while!

I was watching but had my eyes on a few things. That was a very nice lot. If my recall is correct there were about 8 items in that lot. I needed that Brach's car myself as I have a nice one, but no top. I understand also that there are two versions of that car. GIC can clue everyone in on that probably.

I got side tracked as there were a few of the "key pieces" that popped up for Tyco collectors. I saw no mention of them here and wasn't about to spread the word myself as I lacked these items in my collection. One of these items is considered a holy grail type of find. I didn't fool around this time, I bid to win.

Hmmm, anticipation is great, isn't it? I'll put out more on them once they arrive.

Actually anticipation has a lot of negative effects on the amygdala in the brain and the Central nervous system. Anyone with PTSD avoids it like the plauge.

Have fun with the mystery.

Btw: you ignored my "PS" or the hint was too subtle

NYC, I'm glad we were going after different lots. I was bidding for keeps, too, and made out like a bandit. Mine are already posted - I'll wait to see yours...

I have one Brach’s car (with roof). I found it at a very reasonable price right after I started collecting the operating hoppers, and didn’t know at the time how difficult they are to find. Also, before I knew how difficult they are to find, I passed on another one because it was missing the roof and the seller wanted ten whole dollars for it, which I thought was unreasonable. I’d snatch one up at that price now!
