Would you believe it - after all this time it looks like I will finally be able to make it to this?
Myself, Anna (Mrs. GIC) and the incomparable Bethany and Beverly will be there Saturday... and possibly some of Sunday if need be before we head to the Crayola Factory.
I'd love to meet the rest of you folks, so if that sounds good to you drop me a PM so we can be sure to meet up.
I suspect I've probably run into a few of you at Timonium in years past and never realized it...

I'll be there Saturday but have to leave around noon to attend a family function in another state. Your kids will love the Crayola factory and you'll get something out of it too besides seeing your kids happy. My kids loved it and as a matter of fact my daughter Heather worked there over the summer as a volunteer. Have fun driving through that circle the crayola factory is on, describing it would take too long. It's interesting. One big wtf of traffic engineering.

...If you do upstairs in the crayola factory, there is a canal museum with some hands-on museum exhibits... and a room of trains, hehe

Thanks for the suggestions guys!
I have one question, since ya'll know about the crayola factory. Would it be better to buy the tickets online or just wait and pick them up there? Curious to know how packed it would be on a Sunday in Nov.

Hey Guys:
Can't vouch for the Crayola part but Todd and I spent the day at the "Frost" a few years back and we had a great time...

I don't think the line will be all that long that day. I can't gaurantee it but it isn't a holiday weekend or the summer. If you do order online they are non-refundable but you will be able to just walk in without a wait at all. If you know you're going for sure, get the reservations, you'll bypass all the walkins.
And hello Mrs. GIC, I never put this all together until now. Look forward to meeting your family Saturday.

| Well we're here in Allentown. That wind on 78 tonight was like a rocket... insane! At least it helps the mileage some. Glad you can hang out for a while NYC. Maybe our families can get some grub at a local place after the show.

Aw, NYC, no big deal! Great to meet you and your family Saturday. Girls are still talking about it and tell Mrs. NYC that "pinky" the cat and "whitey" the dog are not left out of sight!
We spent over 4 hours at crayola. The girls had an absolute blast! And again, because of the heads up we were able to secure the super large crayons to take home.
If we do head to allentown show again, we've got to get bethany some track time as an operator and let her show the boys how to run trains. She's a speed demon like her folks and didn't make the curves.

Still recovering from the trip, which was great! It's unfortunate though that being "off-grid" for a few days can knock one for a loop. Between something like a hundred posts on here, then the automotive site I write for, and a sudden random flurry of family emails, UGH. It's work just to come back home and sort it out. And I already have a job!
Was great to have an excuse to go the Cumberland (MD) and Lehigh Valleys... some of my favorite parts of the country.
Met ABE, Mr. Tyco, NYC, Taycotrains, TycoJohnny, and a couple others not on the forum - great guys, all of them! Shame we couldn't spend more time with everyone. A few trades and a few finds and the show was easily worth the trip. I will say the narrow crush of table aisles was terrible - lots of stuff to find but I'm so glad Anna graciously spent the show parked off the side with the girls. They would have been killed in the aisles, it was a madhouse. I would never call that a family-friendly show. The train races were great fun but then even that crowd got a bit overwhelming in such a small corner. Thing is, Timonium offers the same quality and quantity - if not *even more* in all scales - and many more operating layouts - in a much more pleasingly open and accessible space. With admission good for both days. Ironically, it's actually a little closer to me by about an hour. But that's not a complaint, just an observation, since a couple people asked me what I thought. Was still worth it though, and we all made a great trip of the whole weekend. Saturday night with NYC's family was wonderful and Sunday was a well-earned funfest for the girls. Hopefully we'll be back next year.
Finds? Oh yes, there were finds. Funny thing is, I actually had very little to spend given my recent flurry of ebay and other choice finds. Sounds stupid to go all that way with only $100 to spend, but no matter, this was about the trip as much as anything else. And I managed to get just about everything on my short list, and a few surprises. My only regret is only having the time, money, and stamina to focus on that "short list." I'm sure there were other vintage treasures like what Loopy and Carl prefer, if only I had been able to step back, breathe, and look... honestly that first crush was just too much and even that tapped most of what I could afford to spend. But I might get around to posting some of them here, eventually.
Again, it was great to meet everyone. Please don't be strangers...
NYC, I will have my shopping list ready soon
Oh and speaking of finds... does anyone have an extra man for the Brakeman car?

Heh heh... would you get mad if you were right? I was going to email back tonight but guess what was on the porch when I got home? Was NOT expecting that - the last thing I ordered from The Great White North took nearly 3 weeks to get here! Many thanks good sir. I was planning a PO run this weekend, I have stuff to send to both you and Matt.

Hey GIC-er:
That is outstanding and I'm gonna pinch myself! WOW. that fast, no one is gonna believe it! "Yeeeehhawww! I's from Texas, Suck my Mammy's Pineapple nipples!" I have wanted to send that to you for a coon's age! Nice to do something for you.
-Gareth PS: no rush on the Sharks, make sure you mark it gift. PSS: What about my idea of doing a "Ducky" car for me, but one you would imagine from the 30's-50's I can cover the cost of an appropriaate car and decals. Something unusual. I have something in mind...something that would appear to our "odd" senses of reality. Have to see if I win an auction I'm pursuing!?

ABE was asking where I was as I usually attend the Allentown meet. I am a fixture at the Spring Thaw Meet as I have a group of tables and stay with a buddy in town. I do not have tables at the November meet and have not attended it in years. I was in Pittsburgh and attended a slot car show on Sat and the Greenberg show on Sunday. I was the one who sold the TYCO display case.....
