I thought maybe a few of you might get a kick out of this....

I've always been a fan of the Ghostbusters, and to my delight, Bethany (now almost 5) fell for them big-time when I found the 80's cartoon series (very high-quality stuff for the first few years) on DVD.

So naturally she wanted to be a Ghostbuster for Halloween. Great! Costumes are relatively simple for that. There's just the matter of the proton pack. Inflatable ones are cheesy. But I have a lot of junk laying around here...

So I custom-built a child-size one using household items and spare parts... including one very conspicuous control switch. I think you'll approve....

(Before anyone gets all fanboy nitpicker on me: This is NOT supposed to be an accurate movie replica. Just something fun that the average person can recognize for intent).

That's AWESOME! I want a proton pack! Now you need to whip up an Ecto-1 locomotive.

Did you ever see the other Ghostbusters? The "Filmation Ghostbusters" as they're called? For some reason, my daughter loves them. Way more than the "real" Ghostbusters.

Very cool of you to do that for your daughter I remember the original toy proton packs (a quick Google search tells me Kenner made them). After staring a few pics of the old one yours is much more believable.

Do you know how badly I wanted something like this as a kid? I had it figured it out too, just spray paint a super soaker black and add food colouring to the water.

Super cool GIC, you know you will have to do a matching Cadillac right?
