A suprise and train show find. It says Rivarossi on the bottom with tin floor and tin coupler boxes and has the little tell-tale "L" for Lionel on the side.

Just in time for Halloween...here's a car with a costume:
That's a HotWheels Batmobile on a Tyco flat car. I didn't even realize the flat was Tyco until I put the car on it the other day. It's certainly out of scale, but it looks snazzy rolling around the track.

I agree with you there burlington. the car is closer to S scale, but none the less, it does look good rolling around the layout.

This one finally puts the blue-box "wrapover" window to good use.
Most of Tyco's promo and billboard cars had reporting marks that weren't a mere random choice. I'm trying to figure out what these mean. The "T&V" could be a disguised reference to Tele-Vision... but what is the F?

Here's a less-common "red-letter" Kellogg's Center-Flow Hopper:
The blemishes are obvious, so here's the question: Should I touch-up the graphics or leave them alone? I don't normally fuss about collectible value, but I don't want to destroy something special, either. Personally. I prefer to restore 'em, and run 'em. What do you think?

Shazam is the only one I bought new in the box. For a long time it was my only Tyco. I paid 3 or 4 bucks for it in the early-mid 1990's. It was a leftover at a hobby shop. They never sold much Tyco there.
The others I paid around $10 each for on ebay. I don't think they're worth that much, but I was desperate. They were a Christmas present for my daughter last year.

Curiousity got me about the meaning of the F, I couldn't figure it out either. I can only guess futuristic. Here's an ad from 1959. They do claim it's the Finest available.

That's a Tyco Red Box-era Bobber Caboose, microbusss. Check out Tony Cook's site: http://www.ho-scaletrains.net/redboxerafreightcars/id21.html They were modeled by several other manufacturers, so it can be difficult to tell them apart. Nevertheless, the shiny railings and plastic frame point to Tyco. Earlier Mantua models often had die-cast frames and heavier, blackened railings. Cheers, - Todd
