I was wondering if anyone would be interested in reproduction boxes(first redbox 7 1/2" boxes with Tyco on bottom right of window). I just got back from a local print shop and he is working on a estimate for me. I want to see if there is a desire for the boxes, I am sure it is not going to be cheap but the more I can buy the cheaper it will be per box. I did not inquire about inserts yet I want to see what people want. Please let me know...

I would be really interested but only with inserts and that would be a problem because the are is so many different inserts ...I once sat my 16 year old daughter down with some "shirt cardboard" and scissors and offered to pay her 5.00 dollars a car for a Tyco "Dixie Bell Set" and she quit after trying to do one...she claimed it wasn't worth the aggravation for even for 3 times the money ! I've used shirt cardboard before. It's easy if you take a good OEM master and trace the cutout. Then, ditch the scissors, and use a box cutter or (several) Xacto knives and a metal straightedge. Of course you'll need a sacrificial surface underneath all this. But I made 6 chemical tank inserts in about an hour this way, and those are kind of hard (no) thanks to the curved part. I need to do some boxcars next, but don't have any shirt cardboard.
Anyway, as for box reprints: I'd be "interested", but only if they're cheap. Problem is you can get nice boxes cheaply with throwaway cars (swift reefers, etc) if you buy in lots. The only real value a box has, is if it has the correct matching printed label from the factory. Reprints won't... and so an incorrect box from a different junk car is just as good. Just my opinion. I'd say if they were a buck or two each, max, I might be interested in a handful. But you can sometimes get OEM with a car (parts) for that every now and then.
Just like buying handrail kits: You can pay $15+ for the just the kit, or $10 for a crap loco that has them.

Well for the inserts I have used cereal boxes and other cardboard I have come up with. I have a big self healing mat that I got at a fabric shop cost about $20 for a 24 inch by 24 inch mat. I would consider buying the inserts also but the thing is I will probably have to purchase the die(I have been quoted around $250-$500 each).
The labels are no problem, I can buy the same stamp from a local print shop. So all you would have to do is tell me what car you plan on putting in it and I can stamp it. The only problem I see with the boxes is the fact that they will probably be printed and not silk screened like the originals... I will find out tomorrow when I call the printer up and find a complete quote. I am figuring if I order around 500 boxes it will come to about 2-3 dollars a box. I have about 100 cars myself that are perfect but without the box so I would need to sell 400 boxes.
If I could get some committed buyers for this let me know exact numbers and we can maybe work a deal out.

I think many would be interested. I agree with the no "collector value" but if the price were right I would buy up many. The inserts are a must, IMO. If they looked authentic with windows and inserts they would have a value to me just to see everything boxed up nicely. I didn't see any dollar figures thrown out there. What kind of figures have been quoted for what quantities? Never mind on the pricing I see it just above this post.
It might be good to again talk to the people who will make these and get all the price points for quantity magnitudes. Ask him what it would take to get these down to a buck a box and 50 cents per insert. The quantities may at first glance seem large but at those prices you may increase the number that would snag them up ten fold. It never hurts to get it all out there on table.

I'd be interested in boxes at a buck apiece. And remember many have converted to Kadee or similar connectors too - "collector value"? =)
I'd be interested in brown box too....
