Todd must have taken a sledgehammer to it, because in the last two days I've seen a TON of names logged in that I haven't seen for ages! Including some with a somewhat odd/ checkered/ fly-by-night past. There was even something like 12 active users at one point last night, instead of the flock of lurkers. Wow! Can I say I was right all along that we needed Todd's presence up in here?
So anyway - where has everyone been? Don't be a stranger. Besides, I resigned my moderator status and that finally went through, so if it was me keeping you guys away, well - no more excuses. I'm just an opinionated blowhard pleb again. Ha ha.
Post your whereabouts, let's shoot the breeze a bit. We're all friends here.

Well, I'm sure everyone knows I've been around almost daily since I joined...but it is quite nice to see more members around, and more messages being posted!
Todd's return has been a real jump-start to the forum, it feels a bit like a brand new site. C'mon folks, don't be shy, this is a great place for train talk!

I have to give a huge thanks to Todd for being Johnny on the spot for the past few days. The board really seems to be coming alive and I love the fact we are getting bug fixes for all the simple stuff. Seeing some new people put up pictures of layouts & trains we haven't seen before Thanks Todd!!!
For me, autocross season is over. So I can put the car away soon and more of my focus will return to trains. Not before I begin my move sometime at the end of next week. I figure within a month or two once I settle in the new place I have two things planned. One is to build a dedicated work desk for the trains (already have a old sewing desk the previous owner left me that I might convert). I'll be able to work far easier. Second thing I want to attempt around Christmas is to build a small diorama to practice some scenery stuff. Also give me a spot at home to stage photos (even though rental layout will be less than a mile away after the move haha). On top of all of that finish of some projects and hopefully get well into the kitbash contest

Hey Guys, I've been checking in almosy daily to see what was new,and I have to say there hasn't been much new going on. I don't blame this on a lack of interest, but just people were out doing summer stuff, and not a lot of playing/collecting trains. With the cooler weather coming most folks are starting to head back to the basement/attic,so I'm guessing we'll see a lot more activity here in the next few weeks. Myself have been busy working like mad,and trying to raise a 3 year old,and trying to hold my sanity. We moved to a new place a few months ago,and I now have a basement to build a layout (FINALY!) so I have started to get thing organized so construction can commence. I have unpacked some train stuff, but haven't got to the HO stuff yet,but I'll keep you peoples posted on any progress I make.

I've been around here fairly often for the past while. Nothin too big happening. School for me has started again, so the workload is back BUT, it looks like my band is starting up again. I just finished a jam with the singer...first practice in 3 months O_o. I'm looking for a part-time job as well. Once I secure said job, the first priorities will be modding my guitar and buying a new skateboard. Then it will be all about the trains

LOL, I hear ya Cheez. I was lucky and found a good job just down the street, although my plans are to first get my moped fixed so I'll something to ride at college, then saving for the actual college fees themselves, then trains.

Im supposed to get a call about an interview from them as well as indepent...nothing yet though Ahh well...I'll prolly try Farm Boy in a few days if I hear nothing. It's close and supposedly easy to get a job there

Hello Guys!
As you know, I don't try to say too much. Don't want to rain estrogen on the train parade, but do comment from time to time.
I love seeing the pictures and the different banter. Just the very supportive wife of GIC :)
Love it that our little one has finally decided to say "train". Only took her over 20 months vs the oldest who said "chessie" at 15 months. They are both little sweet hearts and love trains of all scales, plus old cars.

Bulk mailed everyone who hadn't logged in for over 100 days. Going to do another round of that next week, maybe lower the threshold to 30 days and say "Hi, We're still here, it's train season again".

Mike, you have two accounts with that same email address. I'll see if you've posted under the other account and if not I will delete it.

Yes, your other name here was your full name. It had no posts so I got rid of it.
On another note I just emailed all users who haven't checked in for over 60 days. There were 380 of them who just received the following.
This message was sent from the one and only Tyco Collector's Forum. This is a reminder that those lonely train folks located at the Tyco Forums are missing you. Please take a minute and visit our site at: http://www.tycoforums.com/tyco/forum/ Drop on by and say hello, it would be great to hear from you. The train season is upon us. Thank You. Tyco Collector's Forum.
Let's see how this weekend goes. We've already got a couple back to keep this place busy.

Thanks for the reminder email. I too like to check in from time to time still, but didn't realize I had been off for so long. Life/work seem to have taken over a bit the last year or so.
Nice antecdote to my Slice of Woodbury project though: A few weeks ago we had some couples over to the house and one friend had never seen the room with my wall display.. He is mid 40's like me and I have seen his HO setup under his Xmas tree, mostly stuff he kept from his childhood.
Anyway, my wife was showing him our remodeld downstairs and as I came down to catch up with him, he was staring at the display and he feigned wiping a tear, sniffled and pointed at what he said was the first train he had as a kid from Tyco. He thought it was so cool that I had ammased so much from those catalogs we drooled over as kids.
I was happy the display had accomplished its goal of reminding us of a happy time in our childhoods. And ultimatley, everyone loves trains.
Good to be back aboard. Thanks for the reminder NYC.

Whoa, Scott's back! Howya been? I actually got confused in a trade recently, thinking it was you coming back from the dead that I was dealing with. Oops...!
Your display certainly is inspiring. I've got a few more things to make your hairs gray as you jokingly put it once, but only the corner of a cave to cram them into for now, so you win. And what's left of my hair is finally starting to bleach itself too, LOL.
Don't worry about that though. Nice to see you back; I hope you stay a while.
DixieLine: It is nice to see you return... please stick around as well.
