Nice work Tony. Didn't one of those just sell for $8000 on Ebay?

I knew they were collectible, but I had no idea they brought that much. Even tho I'm not a huge fan of streamliners, they are pretty cool.

Ray, The only high priced Crusader sale I recall was a New Jersey Custom Brass Set. I saved the auction image.

I can assure you that this Penn-Line Crusader, which Tony has done such a masterful job on, cost no where near 8 grand!

Tony, Very nice job on the Crusader & also the pictures & story ! You are truly a craftsman !.... There are not many of these Penn Lines Crusadersa to be found, I have seen maybe 3-4 of them at York,s TCA meets & some on ebay & they seem to run around $1,200.00, this is the asking price but that were still on table when I went back around, I was born in Reading, Pa in a old stone farm house & the RDG tracks leading into the Yard ran about 200 yds away from the house so in my early yrs I was woke up in the mornings by whistles, bells, steam noises of all kinds & couplers clanking when cars were shuttled around, My one Uncle & I sat on the bank above the tracks & watched the small switchers puffing smoke & ringing bells & switching car around, saw troop trains both coming & going some with flat car loads of tanks, trucks, cannons & etc & also when the coaches went by the troops would wave at us, those days of trains are good memories & of course back than I was to young to understand the tragedies of WW II & didnt realize that the war was the reason of all this train activity, my Mother & I also had a ride on the Crusader into Reading one time & I all I remember is the activity around this train as people were standing around looking at this shiny engine with blue on it & the shiny cars instead of the dull green cars & the grimy black engines that we were used to be getting on & it wasnt until yrs later when I got interested in the RDG RR that I realized the shiny & blue train was none other than the Crusader, I dont have a Crusader in my collection & next week when I attend the York meet I will be looking for one like I always do & hope to find one at a afforadabe price, I keep hearing that Broadway Limited is playing with the idea of making a HO Crusader & sure hope they do or somebody does, THanks again Tony for taking time to take pictures & writing about the Crusader,...................Abe

| Great work as always Tony! I liked how you told the story as more of a press release rather than a "how too".
