Here is a unusual Variation. It must have been made on a Friday. They were in a hurry to get home Also, note the reporting marks. They are different from the other car. GIC made some reference to this in another post.

Thats funny Carl....good post man. Is the box lid labeled for the DOT's car or is it blank?

The last color to be added, white, is missing. How did you come across it? Neat find, congrats!

Wow, that's pretty neat. Amazing how the lack of one color completely changes the look of a car. The black spots almost look like portholes and the rest of it could be some very artistic drug-induced graffiti. I'm tempted to get another of these and remove the white myself!
Mistakes like this can really offer an insight as to how the cars were made. I know much of the billboard-series boxcars were done using decals, apparently that wasn't the case here. I'll have to look at my other DOTS cars and see if they're paint or decals.
Is the car like that on both sides? If not, did you find it that way or were you surprised when you flipped it over?
Great find in any case!

The box was labeled Mason Dots 365-C. I purchased this many years ago when I bought some billboard cars at a train show. The Good side was facing out so I did not notice it until I got home. When I took it out the box that's when I saw it was missing the white on the one side. Looking at the car you could try to figure out what order they masked and put on each color, knowing Yellow was the first color, and white was the last color.
