Got this recently...

...after I found out that this...

...was a reprint of it. Only a couple of pictures and captions were changed, inserting Bachmann (eeeeeeeee) and Life-Like (gasp) products and attaboys in there.

I have a version of the second book and posted it a while back somewhere. I enjoy getting it out every once in a while for entertainment.

It was kind of freaky that someone took Tyco seriously enough to do clinics on weathering your Chattanooga Choo Choo and setting up a card order system. Could you imagine an ops session with Power Torques and horn hook couplers?

That book is great, but it's also a real hoot. I wrote my own bit about it a year ago. Still has a prime spot on my shelf...

| Wow. This definitely answers one of my "what if" questions.....What if all you had to work with was Tyco stuff and nothing else? Any chance of anyone posting some scans from the Tyco book? I just want to see some more of their weathering work.

My local library has a copy.
My favourite part was when they did a near perfect mix of a Tyco SD24 and a Tyco GP20, with nothing but a razor saw and some glue. While I don't think it's quite that easy, the reults were very interesting.
I think GIC inculded the picture of the weathered BN diesels, which was easily the nicest piece of work (in my opinion) from the whole book.
