I want to buy a MDC 0-6-0 kit. How hard are they to assemble? Good runners or junk?

I have built a number of MDC kits,
They will build into nice running locos if you take your time and follow the directions.
Assembly is not difficult.
I have bought a few half completed MDC kits that the previous owner gave up on because he skipped the step that said REMOVE ALL CASTING FLASH.
I have had some problems with a few of the newer kits. The gears weren't formed correctly. At the time I was able to get replacement parts.
I liked the older kits, they had crisper castings and less plastic .
Adding extra electrical pick ups will improve preformance and a can motor is recomended for DCC.
