Hi All,
I can't believe I still don't have any Sharks! I do have a Walthers Trainline EMD F40PH for the Chicago RTA though. I think it could pull stumps! It runs smooth as silk. This is one the Great One gave me a while back. I may have posted this already. If so, Sorry about that.

I still lack sharks. BUT I have a close competitor, a FM C-liner from AHM. This was one of the engines in the collection I picked up off my good friend. Is geared kinda high and I found out it needs traction tires. But beyond that once I get tires on it the thing should move fine.

I still have one or two of those laying around. In fact, I remotored one of them. Runs a bit better but couldn't think of a design to power the front truck.

Can't let this week's theme go to waste without posting this:

This also inspired me, since I recently completed a major project, that I can return to my own personal Pielet Brothers and get some of these going properly:
(whole pile o' parts not shown!)
I would consider trading some of that lot (not the Pennsy units) for one of the Yellow and Red sharks as shown in the posts above. If boxed to match these, so much the better!

As for the Pennsy and other diecast and rare sharks pictured here, Rod Stewart singing, "Some guys have all the luck..."

He's a model railroader himself ya know. Although I bet he can afford stuff that's maybe just a little better than Tyco...

You are correct. Mr. Stewart is quite a skilled modeler and very artistic. I believe there was an article recently in MR.

Even as clear as the pic is, it STILL does not do that engine's paint justice. It just has some magical quality to it; I guess it's the sparkles in the paint.

At a concert, ladies may throw themselves onto the stage and then get escorted off. Throw a model train on the stage, and he may stop the music and audience, and then ask "...who in their railroaded mind threw this up here? Please see one of the security crew after the concert..." and under his breath... "and then it's playtime in the tour bus."
In the MR issue, it is stated that Rod builds most of his empire on that tour bus... buildings, traincars, locomotives... his giant layout has code 83 HO track, the skyscrapers are mostly scratch-built... and there's even a 'Grim Reaper' on the top of one of those buildings.
Maybe the August, September, or October 2008 issue?
John
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?
