Yes, it's a Marx Hudson. I can't comment on the running qualities, but I think the American Flyer Hudson is better.

it's a marx. i've never had or even seen one run so i can't help there. their on ebay pretty regularly.

I have one of those Marx Hudsons.
It does run well,and smokes good, but it's a bit on the noisy side.

No see through driver spokes,they are solid wheels.
One side is plastic,the other metal.

does it run on normal HO tracks or on Marx tracks only?

Mine runs fine on Kato Unitrack which has smaller rail than regular HO track.
It will run just fine on normal HO trackage.

I was thinking about it and it was very interessting to me.
but in the end it was a bit to toylike to me.
so i think its better for me to invest in Pennline and Varney or Bowser.
