I can take a look for you, the Superstore here is usually pretty good for carrying RMC.

Hey there:
Just looking for a scan of the one article. Don't want to buy a whole mag for three pages... Not to mention not having space for all the periodicals...

Well, I haven't bought a train magazine for quite some time, so maybe I'll treat myself to it, and scan the article for you on the side.

hey MM:
That would be great. The idea of using dummy units as sound units is appealing...

Hey Gareth...
Putting sound into dummys is a good idea. I successfully did it with a Proto 2000 FA dummy A-Unit Demonstrator with a powered Proto 1000 F-3 B-unit trailing.
The neat thing about this arrangement is that you can actually M-U the two units to become a permanent pair... this means: the metal wheels on the dummy unit can also pick up power from the track besides having only the powered unit doing it.
The effect is that you have 16 wheels picking up the electricity from the track instead of only 8 wheels.
The dummy unit also has more than ample room to carry the sound unit as well.
With this example of lash-up, you wont need couplers between the two units. All the wires will provide a secure connection.
Putting sound in the dummy unit works... I actually did it three years ago.
John
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Sorry Gareth buddy, but there were no train mags at all! They must've stopped carrying them after they realized only one person was buying them.
