I got a SF C415 in the mail recently through a BIN auction. Mint except for a broken step , not shown in the photo, and orange and black LL box. It is an 8wd and is very smooth and a good puller. It also looks pretty neat double headed with a repowered SF RS11 I've wanted a C415 for years. Was it always 8wd or when about did it switch to 8wd? Anyone running a 4wd version?

I think early on it had the same rear power truck as the AHM RS2, Alco 1000, and the Life Like RS11. The RS2 was converted to 8 wheel drive in the 80's or 90's, when it was sold under the Model Power name, so the C415 probably got the same treatment. My guess is that's the IHC version with the smoother motor.

According to magazine adds, the Mehano made C415 has been imported into the USA only twice. The first time was by Life-Like and came with only a single power truck. Many years later, IHC brought the C415 back. This time with all wheel drive and electrical pick-up as well as the nice Mabuchi motor.
By the way, I do have one of the old Life-Like C415s still running.
