I've got a Shell tanker made by Majorette as well. Despite seeing the earliest years of my childhood, it's still good enough to use on my layout!

I picked these Norscott up at Walmart about a month ago under $5 each.
This is a great topic, I'll dig up some other trucks I have awaiting a layout to go on.

Hi all,
here are some more. In Germany there is a big collector's market for promotional trucks, which are mainly used by the beverage industry. These chinese made trucks are fairly cheap (1 - 5 Euros) and a good base for kitbashing. Due to they are screwed together, it's rather easy to disassemble them for repaints and the lettering is usually a simple sticker.
Here are some.
Volvo tanker
Scania 144, EFES Brewery (Turkey)
Scania 144 Conventional, Louny Brewery (Poland)
Krupp Mustang (1950's), Altenmunster Beer (Germany)
Scania-Vabis L76 (1960's), Monchskrug Brew (Germany)
Mercedes Benz LP333 (1950's), lettering already removed
KRAZ Showtruck (Russian), Kirin Brewery Japan
KRAZ Army Vehicle
The last one is a rebuilt model. I used a 1970's Fiat cab (Lima) and a beer trailer and repainted it for a fictional forwarding company.
There is also a nice range of US-type tractors available.

Thats true. But these Models don't come from a single manufacturer. One of them is Highspeed, who also produces for Model Power and Schuco. All of these beer trucks are limited to approx. 2000 pcs. each and there are more than 30,000 different models available.
There are neutral (unlettered) models available as well.

Oh it is...if only I had somewhere to run it I was thinking of building a mini-layout for the bus. The wires are tricky to set up though, and I'd need to scratchbuild some poles...a summer project perhaps

Yes the tractor portion is missing from that trailer, had it, lost it...
The petrol tanker is a Matchbox (lesney). They were made from 1961-65 and there was actually one prototype made that it was modeled from.

I bought this today:
They had TONS of yellow Kenworths, one white Peterbilt, and a couple of these green Kenworths.
I'm gonna put it beside my new warehouse, but first I'll study some real photos to see how these trucks age and get dirty. Because a weathered buidling demands a few good weathered trucks!
And I'm sorry, but once again I had to visit Wal-Mart for this. I also payed about $7 with tax.
Anyway, today I tried to make it less toy-like, and more of a model. Shaygetz knows what I'm talking about. When I took it apart I was surprised to find that only the hood is die-cast. Strange that they would make everything plastic, and then go to the trouble of making just one of the body parts metal.
I painted the fuel tanks a light grey, painted some small bits black or silver, applied a little bit of eye shadow, and some spare decals. Of course, after spraying everything with Dullcote, the eye shadow effect disappeared...
Take a look:
Now I just need to find some tiny mirrors and air hoses!

Hi All,
Boy thats some nice stuff you guys have. I use Matchbox and Hotwheels for my layout ( such as it is ). I restore or should I say repaint some of the stuff I get. But ONLY if someone else tried to paint it before me and botched it up or maybe it was a kid who did it. Anyway I like spending a dollar or less to get a vehicle rather than 5-10 dollars or more. Not knocking those who can afford it of course. I know there are some cars in the picture but these are some of the trucks I use.
Walt: Thats one sweet crane you got in your picture. That is at the top of my list to find. I don't really know why I like it so much, But I do.

Hey Mike! Thank you for the mention of the crane! It's an old #30 Matchbox Regular Wheels. Its quite different I must say. I see you too have some old Matchbox RWs. If you like old Matchbox Mike, I have a good photo with all my regular wheels cars & trucks in it. It can be found in the same forum section as this thread in another of Microbus's titles called "Accesory Collection".
