I have one Cox loco, it doesn't run very well but I think that's just mine.
I think they're fairly similar to Tyco in terms of performance.

At one time they were built by Athearn, I don't think the Big Pine set was though...

I have bought some Cox engines, the first one in the '70's when they were new.

This is probably just such a simple question I can't figure it out, but if the trains are Cox, why are they in Tyco boxes?

as mantua and tyco did gp20s i would think someone thought it might fetch extra if in a tyco box?or it was only box he had but definatly not tyco ken

Collect enough trains, and eventually you'd find yourself lucky to have them all in any kind box, let alone the correct one. And given people just picking up and attempting to sort through some inherited collection... that sort of mismatching happens all the time.

My engines clearly say Cox on the bottom of the fuel tank/weight area.
