Had a great day the Kansas City area train show today. Set up a display promoting the TYCO Resource and had the Golden Eagle Super630, Silver Streak C430, Spirit of '76 C430, Midnight Special Shark Nose, Turbo Train, and Chattanooga GP20 for viewing.
You would not believe the number of little railroaders, who aren't old enough to have ever known TYCO trains, that stopped and pointed and asked about the TYCO items.
Had quite a few folks with more serious tastes of the mature model railroader variety pause and look and told me their first train was a Silver Streak or Golden Eagle set back when they were kids.
I was wearing a TYCO T-Shirt and one person asked me if I worked for TYCO and why didn't they still make trains?! Just let me win the lottery and we'll have Chrome Super630s and Chattanooga 2-8-0's back in stores by next Christmas!! [;)]

I'm glad you had a great day TC. Mine wasn't so good. I went to a local train show in the Detroit area and didn't see a whole lot of Tycos. Honestly, this was my first time going in a looooooong time, 15 years, so while I may have been quite disappointed, I really shouldn't have been surprised that there wasn't much there. I did pick up a set of trucks in a pack for $1, the SF crane car and tender in a box for $8 and in VGC. I got a couple of rolling stock in red boxes and some loose ones.
I picked a Ralston-Purina reefer a little different looking than the ones I've seen before. The car was actually red before being decorated.
And last but not least, I picked up steel track in a big babbie for a buck. Yes, $1!!! The guy had three bags so I got them all! The tracks just need a cleaning and they'll be ready to run.
Hopefully the next show will have more Tycos.

Certainly does sound like a good time! Too many people forget what what Tyco, et al managed to accomplish in spite of piles of burned-out PTs. I still think that "model" railroading NEEDS a purveyor of fun, accessible, toy-like RTR to win over a new generation.
Kudos to you for spreading the word... [:)]
