Major snow storm in my area
Sunday, March 01, 2009

I live in the south and this is like a major holiday. While many of you experience snow every winter-the south is different. WE are currently getting thunder snow and lightning. This is the first significant snow in 5 years in which up to 12 inches has been forecasted

Thunder & lightning AND snow is pretty rare around here too. Last time it happened, my bedroom window was constantly lit up, there were no breaks between strikes!

The largest snowfall I can remember was in 2003 or 2004. There were cars completely buried, wheels to roof...

Here in Ohio, it's been cold much of the winter. Some snow & ice here & there... Enough to total my favorite Red Monte Carlo!! (hit by dump truck)

I wish I could never see cold, snow or ice again! Maybe only on a post card!!

This is what our first snowfall looked like this winter:

Still not much compared to 2003.
Sorry for the poor picture, I love going outside while there's a snowstorm...

Man that is a lot of snow which is normal for you in Canada. Schools are still closed due to icy roads and power outages. COOL PIC

Same here Ken Schools closed / buisnesses closed or delayed opening and closing before dark as roads re-ice as temps plumment into the teens. MAny people think the south is warm in the winter atr times it is but it does get just as cold as norhern states. WE do get into teens and single digits and occassionally below zero when we get a hard Canadian Artic blast. We don't have budget or equipment for continous plowing. Lucky to get one pass with plows.

A little off topic here, but I've been meaning to ask you Brian, how's progress on your Police locomotive?
That thing is cool!

MM --Thanks.. Trying to figure out a power source for the strobes. The strobes will not work on track current as i tried the wires to tthe motor. The strobes are rated up to 20 volts. May have to use button cells. I am going to use a Reed switch for activation. In the video-i used a 9 volt battery. My other option is to wire a 9 volt battery into a boxcar and run leads to engine.
