hi guys again this should be called lexlie's junk identification.... got this one today the guy told me it was rivarossi.... not a name anywhere but it's the first time i see this motor set-up more than this i got it falling apart the motor came out of his stand it was held there by some glue....i'll need the good screws for this job... there are 4 holes under the gas tank and the same under the motor so that should be easy to do
but gotta be sure of what it is to find some parts for it
if i'm getting on your nerves just let me know or maybe it's just practicing your skills anyway thank you all again

Looks like the motor mounts are the only bits missing...the things I like about the Athearn drive are that it's simple, powerful, reliable and the parts are all interchangable.
Nice looking U-boat Pat, I hope you like it!

It's just a nickname for the Universal Series GE locomotives, since the model numbers all begin with U.
U-33B in your case.

| That's a fairly desirable, out of production paint scheme, under $10 is a good price for it.

You're welcome, Pat. The seller just told me if he'd known you wanted it that bad he would have charged you more, split the difference with me, and we could have had a beer on you.
Good luck, and post photos of it in its new home.

YEEEEEESSSSSS
the 1776 athearn is back on track at first i did not press the motor enough for the stands to go all the way so did not make contact between motor and frame almost sat on it to do so....it runs very well only thing i need now are two lightbulbs and maybe a top contact plate because the one i have seems to be too short to get to both bulbs
had a few old locos that the light worked for 5 seconds and then died maybe that's a regular problem but lighting is quite secondary for me for now...
tx again you specialists i always appreciate your help all of you....

Good question, I bought mine used at a hobby shop in the '70's. It was my first non-tyco/mantua HO scale engine.
Is there a source for athearn we can check like Tony's resource sites for other manufacturers?
