When I run my trains I have to plug a cord with my transformers connected each time. Do you have some safe ways so that you don't plug-in each time? Alco Fan

I found one with a 12 foot cord in an apartment cleanout so they should be out there, it even has lightening suppression. I expect that kind would be easier to find at Office Max, Circuit City or Staples though, I've not seen that length at Wal Mart, Lowe's or Home Depot.

I saw one with a long cord at W-Mart too. I'm not sure we've heard all the ideas yet guys? I guess best case senario would be to have it plugged in to a socket operated by a light switch, which I don't have yet. Alco Fan

My dad had used 2 outlets screwed to the underside of the layout and a lightswitch for his old G gauge layout. Then he just had a piece of wire with a plug and ran that to a outlet. I would use a power strip if it is not going to stay that way for a long time, hard wiring is more of a permanent solution. But if you are handy you could wire a new outlet closer to your transformers, its not expensive the outlet, box, and wire should not run you more then 20 dollars if even that. If you get someone to install it for you the minimum charge around here for a union electrician is about 50 dollars an outlet.
