STC crews are still getting the feel for the new East Frankfort Shops. But the old bench has been erected in a pseudo-temporary location, enough to begin some token work.
That work is the frantic "proof of concept" design-on-a-(roll of)-dime(s) for the first STC Holiday Special... a preview of which can be seen here in this grainy crap-cam shot.

Stay tuned for the unveiling which (we hope) should be... "soon"

Looks like it'll be one heck of a light show...
I forgot to mention the last minute little Christmas train I made, I must go and take some pictures.
Don't expect anything with LED's lining the edges!

(Frankfort, KY)
The official arrival of winter was marked promptly a few hours before midnight, as STC crews finally unveiled the Holiday Special along the original downtown main in Saint Canard. Maintenance and appropriations personnel enhanced the streets for the occasion, while people lined up for a glimpse of the special and rare consist.

The lead engine was a rare Clear Shell Tyco F7, on extended loan to the STC for this occsasion. Festively adorned with pine garland and bows, the locomotive itself was also reworked for a special display of it own

Realizing the fortuitous use of color, STC crews decided to press one of the legacy "museum cars" into holiday service. Framed with green garland designed to shine, it fit the season.

This boxcar from the STC Tyco museum finally saw timely light of day again, some 30 years after it was originally painted.

Twinkling a spectacular visage, this boxcar was acquired as a gift from a partner shortline in North Carolina. One of the most vivid cars in the consist!

Honoring winter itself, this simple yet crisply designed billboard car found a new use to mark the season.

Emptied of steel for the occasion, kids were asked to guess what this clamshell gon was hauling instead...

Not overlooking the primary reason for celebration, the NC shortline also provided this car to keep the STC on the "right track" as it were...

A companion to the 1977 car ealier, this second legacy boxcar did double duty in the consist.

Been naughty this year? Not to worry! The STC's got you covered.

Bringing up the rear, an old Midnight Special caboose was pressed into pun service, and adorned with snowflakes and holiday placards to mark the festivities.
And once the dark if nigh finally arrived in earnest, what a treat they received:

....video to come later....

Awesome train!
Tyco rarities jazzed up for the holidays, what more could you ask for? Looks like it would be really cool in the dark...all dem lights and whatnot.
Oh, and this particular line...

...was quite amusing.
Nice work, Mr. GIC.
