The first train set made using the Athearn Pa and Athearn streamlined passenger cars was made by Athearn for COX. The set came with a single PA1 and 3 or 4 cars. I think 3. And I think the number was #5750. I am not certian but the number 5750 was not seen before then. All PA PA1s till then were 5752. I could be wrong. I am not digging thro any info for this, just remembering. I also noticed recently a third number on Athearn PA's, And they were blue box. It was the first time I had seen the new number, and I don't remember it. I looked real well at it and it didn't seam to be renumbered. The dealer was asking way to much for it. frank toptrain

I've got the Pennsy units. A powered A unit, and dummy A and B units. This reminds me of something I've been meaning to ask. What's the correct name for the B-unit? Is it a PB-1? I called it that once and somebody told me that was wrong. PA-1B? PAB-1? PABST? PBJ?

Looking through my books on the New Haven line, there are references to PA units; New Haven never had a B unit but there was one photo with a note of a visiting PA and PB. Looking at the related FAs, they had FA units and FB units. I don't see it explicitly stated, but I get the impression that they didn't add the -1 until the -2 units came out. So from what I can tell, I don't think you're wrong.
