Ebay has been very EVIL for me too. I sold some stuff to someone in Japan who said he didn't get it and filled with pay-pal before he even had time to get it. I bought a super 630 that turned into a Burlington passenger car. And still waiting for two twin diesels-been a few weeks. Bought two new Tyco sd24's that don't run I did get a super 630 from a forum member thats really nice so things aren't all bad

| I've generally received outstanding items from Ebay, although I tend toward "new in box" items. However, I once got a trio of Tyco streamlined psgr. cars that looked dug up from a landfill, and a GP-20 that would hardly move.

Uggg I have had a few bad dealings on eBay, I have found that reading peoples feedback tells you alot about them. If I see one bad thing about packing in there feeback I will not buy from them. I have sold on eBay for a few years now and never had any complaints about my packing. There is no excuse on not packing a item well newspaper is cheap and so are paper shreaders. I only ever had a close call selling a item I dropped it when I was packing it and a forget what broke but I sent a picture to the buyer offering to send him a full refund but he still wanted the item so I sent it to him and he was a happy camper. My experience bying a bad item it was a kitbashed locmotive and the guy doctored the picture so they looked undecorated and when I got them they were crap with really thick primer on them and handrails made out of toothpicks. The auction title was "2 undecorated aligator nose deisels" boy was he full of it. I notified eBay and after about 2 months of emails I got 20 bucks of my 40 spent back, so there is justice. My main argument with that was he said they were undecorated but they had primer on them so they were decorated. Fortunatly someone in eBay agreeed with me and I won the case...

E-bay was a bad experiance for me! As you can see from my stuff it is not new HO. I like the old stuff. So many sellers list their trains as being in far better shape than they are. Once you recieve the items you can tell that by compareing the item to photos that damaged parts were not shown. Their are very good sellers that take pains to explane what and where the broken and missing areas are. Many just hide them. E-bay just sits their and takes their fees and does little to earn them. You would think they would have a moderator checking things. They seam not to. I never sold anything their. I just made purchases. I just accepted when things were bad. I got out of ebay years ago and realy don't miss it. I have a nice train collection and it has nothing to do with ebay ! Yes that old addage is true. " LET THE BUYER BEWARE ! " FRANK

My almost entire collection has been purchased on eBay, almost 1000 models and almost no bad experience. But, you have to develope a eye on bad stuff.
Only once, as a seller, I recieved some bad feedback. I sold a catalog, the buyer asked for the cheapest postage. Unfortunately, the catalog got lost during the transport. This buyer got really mad, even if it was an item of less than 4 euros (incl. postage).
Ill continue eBay, actually I need eBay for completing my collection.
Cheerio,
Martin

Leo, I buy most of my Tyco stuff at local train shows. There are at least 10 a year here around Baltimore. Also some of the area train stores get Tyco every now and then. They know I like that old Tyco junk.

nothing wrong with ebay as a buyer, its a few sellers that let it down, dark photos, vague descriptions, bad packaging etc,and we all know bad news travels faster than good news ken my top 5 tips for buying off ebay 1 dark photos, out of focus photos could be hiding something 2 make contact with seller,if he fails to answer be very wary 3 ask questions about item that he fails to mention (ie any bits missing etc) 4 you have rights as a buyer,if what he sells does not match his description you are entitled to a full refund (i always expect some form of postage refund for obvious misleading descriptions via ebay) 5 unless you feel sure do not bid even if you really really need it,theres always another (look at photo below and let me know what you think )

Hey Ken,
Just a quick look at your first entry photo.
Bits that may be referred to could be the couplers. You may have to drill out the coupler holder on those talgo trucks.
And, regarding about your last entry with the four TYCO cars, good photo!
John
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?
