Their have been a question in message windows about this subject. But I can't locate them. So here is a place to put just that information and pictures in it's own topic heading. After TYCO quit the toy train business some cars have been released by other companies that seam to be identical. TYCO/Mantua cars have been released by other companys useing the old or remanufactured dies. What nice is the new road names and paint skeames used. IHC had released tank cars and hoppers that I know of. I have 5 of the 40' chemical tank cars and I like them. I hope IHC puts more out in even different road names.

CPC tanker. Their plant was only about 4 miles from my house in Chicago. It is a HUUUGE complex more akin to an oil refinery. But AFAIK they do not have their own custom-painted tankers (or maybe they used to but they have not since the 1980's); they do have CPC-stenciled Preessure-Aide Center Flows in the standard OEM Pressure-Aide markings though.
As for the IHC re-issues: They did them all around the turn of the century (ha it sounds funny to say that). They did the following Tyco cars:
- 40' Chemical Tank - 50' plugdoor - 55' Covered Hopper - 56' Center Flow - 62' High-Cube (double door) - 36' Wide-vision Caboose
The roadname selection was great and the paint jobs are superb. I have about a dozen assorted cars from the series. I think there were about 86 cars altogether; TheOldReliable claims to have them all.
IHC also supposedly has the molds for the - Alco 430 - Alco 630 - Sharknose But has not released any of them
It is my belief that the - Streamlined caboose - 40' High Cube - 40' gondola, - 40' open hopper - 50' flatcar (autoloader, piggyback, pulpwood, etc) All went to Mehano in Yugoslavia. Mehano started producing these cars for Tyco for late-issue train sets and they have not been seen since.
The "classic" streamliners, civil-war era rolling stock, and pre-Consolidated Foods locos (steamers, F7, GP20) went to Mantua, now Model Power.
The post-70's Mantua freight cars are actually primarily old Lindberg tooling. The Tyco 50' plugdoor does appear here tough as does the original shorty flat car.
I do not know where the 40' box car is, nor the 62' reefers and operating cars. The 62' reefers have not been seen from anyone anytime since the original Tyco releases; same for the operating cars (which is a shame). And I believe the "new Mantua" 40' Boxcar is different since it has a separate roofwalk IIRC.

That was very good info. I didn't know about the cars untill IHC was haveing a sale on what stock was left. I only knew about a few of the cars. We agree on the quality of the paint scheams, their very good. If you have some more car photos put them in. I have a few of the large centerflow hoppers and large covered hoppers. I'll find them and get a few more photos in.

GiC:
The streamlined caboose showed up in the IHC "Corkey's Carnival Caravan" circus-train sets a few years ago...maybe the late 90s or early 2000s.

Hi all,
Mehano took over the molds from Pemco in the 80s. They overhauled some models and still produce them (i.e. GG1, Mountain, 2-6-0, SD35, piggy-flat, gon, hopper, caboose and the crane). Still, I dont know if the Pemco molds are similar to the Tyco ones, probably they are!

Hi Frank, This is a Bachmann tanker that I saw on Ebay and I won it. It looks like a Tyco 3 dome to me, but has Bachmann on the underside. Anyone see a difference

| Bachmann, Lifelike, Pemco, and Playart all sold clones of the Tyco tridome; I'd wondered if Tyco had actually contracted the tooling out (say to Kader), but there are some very subtle, minute differences in the others. Nonetheless - and not only because it's such a ridiculous fantasy car to begin with - they're clearly clones. Bachmann eventually added a full, proper underframe to theirs shortly before they quit making them.
