Just got back from York last night... I am not going to bore everyone with a lot of pictures of the stuff we got but this one item is worth mentioning.

Wow! What a great find! I believe this set is from 1954, the first year Tyco offered the trolley street car set From the 1954 Tyco Catalog...
Heres a point to ponder How did you control the speed using batteries? At 9 volts, it wasn't like it would go full speed, but speed control would be nice... From the 1954 Mantua Catalog...
I guess consumers complained 'cause in 1955 the battery tube was a large one piece affair holding 8 batteries with a controller which was an off/on switch! The price of the set increased to $14.95. Engineering cost I suppose.
They continued to catalog this set no T-4 until 1957 with a $12.95 price sticker. The 1958 edition dropped the battery case and wire and lowered the price to $9.95 for the car and oval of truck. While the track was listed there was no street car or set offered in 1959.
1960 saw a new power unit installed (similar to the Plymouth diesel), a dummy trailer added, passengers in silhouette at the windows and the name "Coney Island" emblazoned on the sides. However, there was still no poles present! Price for set no T-601 of 2 cars and track $10.98.
1961 listed set T- 6101 contained one car, no trailer and the name changed to "Main Street" for a cost of $9.98.
Finally in the 1962-63 catalog Tyco acknowledged that most folks called these units "Trolley Cars" and they had poles to draw their power! Set T-6201 was $9.48 with track and trolley named "Crosstown". Loopy
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
