I Have a Union Pacific Loco that shed a left front side moulding {1 piece, yellow striped - refer pics below} Dog probably ate it. Are there other sources for this sort of thing other than Bachmann?, as my batting rate is 50% on hearing back from them. Thank you Tanked.

You could contact Bachmann to see if they still have the shells, but if it's an older model all they can do is a complete replacement of the whole loco for a set price. You could also ask this Sunny's Warehouse on eBay:

She's always at my local Greenberg show and only carries Bachmann, and has tons of parts and old shells, tho they're usually pretty beat up.
Personally, I would just use some Evergreen strip styrene to fill in the missing piece and the side of the ladder, sand it smooth, and paint it.

Thanks NP759 The water is a bit muddy on this one as I was looking in Ebay to see what is going through for the UP 4-8-4 Overland when I noticed a couple of listing photos of LHS of loco where the yellow striped moulding only went to the top of the stairs - did not run down the side of the stairs on the LHS. Same in checking completed sales in Ebay. So I am scratching my head. Does anyone have the exploded parts view for this Loco or a pristine example & can tell me what the molding/striping should be at the left front of the loco? [ie: stop at top of stairs or run down the side, or some other set up?? Thanks Tanked

The molding wouldn't be shown separately in an exploded view. Anything like handrails, piping, headlight, etc. would only be available with the shell under one part number.

I'll bet the reason the running board edge is like that is because it was offered one of two ways---with or without "elephant ears"---a smoke lifting device that is quite unique looking that many roads used, primarily on passenger steam to lift the smoke and soot up and over the cars behind.

Shatgetz - An elephant ear would fit where the molding is missing, but what about the RHS?, which has a yellow striped molding to the bottom of the steps ilo a space for an elephant ear. The molding doesn't appear retro fitted either. Your real life example had a pair of elephant ears as does the NYC 4-8-4 I have. So still scratching my head on this one. Guess we need another Overland UP 4-8-4 owner to chip in with what teir loco looks like.
