| Everyone should have at least one brass piece. Can't help on the dis-assembly save that it really shouldn't be all that different from say a good Atlas or Kato.

hi guys after trial and error got it apart,no damage caused by me,but the interior tells a few tales, firstly its been repaired by a novice, soldered wires to screw, which needs to be free to access screws to trucks,to adjust movement, and gear maintainance, and one truck was missing insulater between truck and frame, hence non working, but am forging ahead, like a blind man with sunglasses, ken
 motor is a canon en22-t12

One lesson i learnt from this is not to tighten the truck screws to tight otherwise it jams the cogs of the drive train,so beware if you have one of these
got this far, replaced missing insulater, assembled all parts after cleaning, lubing, care of a friend, runs as sweet as the day it left factory,if not better, with a few spare mantua complete bogies in background, ken
now the hard bit straightening the brass bits

You lucked out, Ken. For $50 bucks you got a unit with minimal issues, and a good Canon can motor instead of a big ol' Pittman. Those resemble Hobbytown gear towers with plastic gearing. Even better news, there's plenty of room for flywheels.

You could probly get some Athearns on there depending on shaft thickness and use some Athearn couplings to mate them to the gear towers. Yes you did luck out for 50 dollars, I got my first brass engine for 90 dollars it was sitting on the shelf of my dads friends hobbyshop since 1970. A sw1500. Adam

NWSL would be a good source for flywheels that would fit, just measure your shafts. The most common are 2.5 and 3mm. Nice work...

Nice to see our worthless Dollar is good for someone! $50 for a brass loco?!? Man I need to start looking. It'd be neat to have a GP40x or GP38 in the STC fleet.
The only brass item I have is an autorack that I painted myself. The see-through side panels are awesome.

| hi gic as have stated before,i sit for ages scouring ebay uk,usa, japan, germany, and france, even though people post worldwide they do not always say so,also, you only get partial listings of overseas members otherwise you would need to search millions, plus people sometimes miss list, they are the best,i now have 5 brass locos 2 gp50s,2 gp40xs i painted in up,and the great western king class,no more intended unless they are real bargains ken
